While many people may not have heard the name Helen Fielding, there are millions around the world who have followed her alter ego by the name of Bridget Jones. The original Bridget Jones’s Diary book was made into a very successful movie which initially led Helen Fielding to swap her London home for a swanky Los Angeles pad. It is amazing to think that it was the 1990s when Bridget Jones first came to our attention and still today the movie franchise continues with the “Bridget Jones’s Baby” movie.
So, what is Helen Fielding selling and what did she recently buy?
Her long-time Hollywood home is now on the market for $3.5 million after securing a $5.6 million upgrade with another real estate purchase. Her old abode is very different in style to her new Brentwood property with three bedrooms, 2655 ft.² of living space not to mention the traditional Hollywood outside pool. The style of her first US property is very much sleek and contemporary and with palm trees and breathtaking views across the hills of Hollywood you have to wonder why she is moving.

We have seen a number of images from inside Helen Fielding’s Hollywood Hills home which offers a traditional open plan structure. The colouring is very light, the furniture stylish wood and the eye-catching lights/chandeliers together with exposed oak beams create an extremely enticing character. Much of the furniture stands out as old-fashioned and modern, dark and light, with an abundance of natural light via the large windows.
At first glance the kitchen area seems to be your stereotypical celebrity cooking area but actually this is very different. The kitchen island is made of eye-catching marble with contemporary style barstools and we can also see a candle design chandelier and exposed roof beams. Large storage facilities will go down well with those holding celebrity parties not to mention the latest modern kitchen equipment.
There is also a large outdoor pool surrounded by palm trees and shrubbery and boasting a number of sheltered areas to escape the sun. This property is airy, contemporary in style and boasts some staggering views over the famous Hollywood Hills.
Onwards and upwards to Brentwood
While there is certain to be much interest in the $3.5 million listing of her previous home, Helen Fielding will now be enjoying life in her new $5.6 million pad. The Brentwood property is described as a “farmhouse style house” and boasts five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and something which alter ego Bridget Jones would very much enjoy, a large wine cellar!
There is also an outdoor pool, spa and cabana with a wet bar and an upstairs master suite which boasts a large fireplace together with a balcony offering stunning views. While many people would have been happy to live in the Hollywood Hills there is no doubt that Helen Fielding has more than deserved her ever-growing riches as the Bridget Jones story rolls on. There had been speculation she was moving back to London on a full-time basis but this has not been confirmed and a $5.6 million investment in a new property may suggest otherwise.
