Is it better to send air or extract air to remove moisture from the room?

Ventilation ducts have been laid, one end at the far end of the house and one end through a hole punched in the door to the outside. The exhaust fan can send air inward or draw air outward. Which type of dehumidifier is more effective? Also can I set the auto run time for each day, how long is the best time to run it? What airflow do you guys usually go with?

PS: There are large windows in the basement door that don't pump out the house.
This one looks like it makes very little noise, just not sure if I'd sell one bit.ly/4dPggO4

I’d say a regular dehumidifier should work for your setup. Start by running it for 4-6 hours a day and see how the space feels.

To effectively remove moisture from the room, consider using a dehumidifier, which helps maintain optimal humidity levels. Improving ventilation by opening windows or using exhaust fans can also significantly reduce moisture buildup. Regularly checking for leaks and ensuring proper drainage around your home are essential steps too. For setups with large windows, drawing air out is typically more effective. Humid air tends to linger if you’re only pushing air in, so I’d recommend the exhaust fan mode that draws air out. Running the dehumidifier for 4-6 hours should give you a good balance without overdoing it on energy use.
