Flights to Egypt from Spain
Living in Spain I have always thought that the cheapest way to get to Hurghada was by flying first from Malaga to Gatwick, then taking the cheapest charter going! This still requires an overnight stop in Gatwick the night before the flight and on the night we get back. Taking the return flight from Spain at about 150€, two nights in Gatwick at about the same price, plus the cheapest charters at between 300-400€, this still adds up to 600-700€.
Imagine my surprise when I found that I can fly from Malaga to Madrid for about 100€ return and then Air Egypt or Iberia to Cairo for 368€ return and an onward flight to either Hurghada or Sharm for another 100€ return.
Although the cost is the same this can all be done in a day and is using schedule flights with prices pretty much the same year round. I have always been surprised how many Spanish people are going to Egypt on holidays but these prices and ease of travel could well be the reason.
