These personal insults are not helping anyone!
I get fed up with wading through insults to find little nuggets of facts that might be used to build a rational view of what is going to happen - good or bad.
The interesting points I picked up that suggest things may get worse:-
- School terms ending - will those with kids now flee? Much less disruption for them if they start a new year in a new school away from Dubai.
- No resolution to visa issues
Points suggesting things will get better:-
- Burj Dubai completion (could add metro and marina to that too) making Dubai more tourist friendly
- Unrest in neighbouring countries esp Pakistan leading to influx looking for a safe haven (Sri Lanka may go the other way though)
- Tax increases forecast for developed countries to pay for all the stimulus going in right now and I don't think this is a minor point Dobuy!
- Reality check when people realise that there are no jobs for them to escape back to in their own countries
- Signs of wheeler-dealers looking to fleece people trying to sell, knowing they can shift the more popular properties to ready buyers
So my take on it all is that there are very few genuinely positive reasons (completion of major projects) but far more double negatives i.e. its worse elsewhere and the cowboys are coming back.
I agree that Cityscape in the autumn will give a better idea whether the buzz is going to return quickly. We cannot expect too much right now.
