Will the UK new build problem ever be resolved?

The UK is currently running tens of thousands of newbuilds behind demand and despite government funding, announced time and time again, little progress is being made. Even if the UK government was to provide sufficient funding there are serious concerns about a skills shortage in the employment market. Will the UK ever catch up on the gap between demand for homes and supply?

There is no appetite from politicians or homeowners to catch up - that way prices stay high. Thats the real reason we are never likely to catch up.

In reality housebuilders are "happy" with the current set-up as you could argue it massages supply/demand in favour of higher prices?
