The pros and cons of loft conversions

In years gone by loft conversions were one of the more popular DIY "improvements" for many homes around the world. Opinion is divided on what kind of impact loft conversions have upon your property’s value but one thing is certain, if you are looking to convert your loft for material gain when you sell your property, it may not be as lucrative as you expected!

Perhaps you have gone through a loft conversion? What advice would you give to others in a similar situation?

I would recommend you make sure you insulate the new room properly, many loft conversions i have come across have been cold and cost a lot to heat as they lose a lot of heat through your properties roof.
