re murder of a guy called ramerio in conde

hey,

I have been looking at granja in jacuma and conde area, prefer conde more green and farmland looking.
But heard some distrubing gossip? about a guy called ramerio who lives on a granja with his partner anna, that last week he was murdered at his granja in conde, does anyone know if this is true, someone said it happened because they were foreigners, so now really put off buying in these areas.. any info would be graet

Unfortunately this is true. It was made to look like a robbery but there are many factors which don't seem to add up. I think there is a strong possibility he was actually targeted.

The father of a friend of ours was shot dead in the centre of Conde a while back and that wasn't robbery either. (He was Brazilian).

I don't think there is any "targetting of foreigners" but as in any country, everyone has to take basic precautions.

That said, Conde does have a bit of a reputation as a "rough area" and i've heard there is a bit of a drug problem there.

Jacuma is a far better place (and the town looks nicer too) and you have the nearby places which are popular with foreigners such as Carapibus, Tabatinga ans Praia Bela.

Thanks for the update, still very unsettling, and i do not plan to continue looking at granjas in that area, but jacuma i am still interested, i have only been searching on the internet and at different agents sites, but again not sure which agent, any suggestions? i plan to be in brazil, next month and hopefully buy, if i can find the right place, but feel safer buying through an agent, any info would be grateful.

Lovebrazil, what sort of place or price are you considering? What are your requirements? There are many things to be taken into account.

Buying a property can be a tricky business here, even through agents. If you want you can PM me for a chat about anything.

Just so you know, I am not an agent and have absolutely no connection to any either. I do have some contacts locally though who usually know what is happening and what is available.

Growler - I seem to remember another event about 2 years ago when an elderly British gent died suspiciously, and his wife was left penniless and fending for herself - ring a bell?

I think this was also on a farm in the Conde area - maybe somewhere to avoid...?

I think I know who you mean but I wasn't aware there was anything suspicious in his case, heart attack I believe?
