portable air con unit

Has anyone tried the portable air con units you see for sale in the electrical shops and if so are they any good.

We don't have an air con unit in our bedroom and wondered if these could be suitable as an alternative to paying for a fixed unit fitting.

Hi Jan, i used one when i lived in Cyprus, they are not the best although better than nothing and it means you can wheel it round the apartment so not have to fit a unit in each room.

Hi I have one in the UK - quite a large one and does the job here - although the only use I have had for it recently is to place it near my laptop as the fan busted and to cool it down!

Think the largish one I have here would be ok for our bedroom in Sharm though.
