when is a POA not the POA that you thought you had signed for and how can it be retracted.

Initially owners were told a POA had to be signed for the electric meters to be installed and this was done.
Owners have now been made aware that there are 2 POAs; one is for the electric meters but also a general one (eg for renting out your apartment to selling something of an owner).

How can owners retract these POAs. The developer is asking large amounts of money for this to be done. shouldn't these have been cancelled automatically after the meters were installed and why should the owners have the added cost of cancelling these.

Any advise please.

Assuming the POA was arranged by your solicitor they are best placed to give advice on this.

owners used the developers lawyers as it was all part of the free service.

As you have now discovered developers never give anything for 'free'; everything has a price. Another reminder that prospective purchasers anywhere should always, always use an independent solicitor.

Notwithstanding that, this solicitor is acting for you as well & should give advice. Ask.

Has anyone had their POAs back from their developers or have owners kept them with their developers?
