Has anyone any news on this development? The master developer, Dubai Properties, abandonned Cultural Village nearly a year ago with no sign of roads, drainage, water supply, electricity supply and district cooling being completed or even started. Versace completion should have been September 2009 but Emirates Sunland are saying completion will be end of 2010 maybe beginning 2011 but keep paying your installments or we'll cancel your contract.
This project is alleged to be 60% complete but it is evident that it is nowhere near that completion stage and cannot be completed at all without the infrastructure being completed. Cultural Village needs a 132kV substation to service all the properties in this devlopemnt, it hasn't even started and should DEWA start today it won't be energised for at least 3 years.
My estimate is that completion is between 30 and 40% as the concrete frame is complete and some windows are installed. The site should be humming with over 1000 workforce but there are about 100 at best. Work should be starting on the finishes, which are 7star quality, this cannot be done as Dubai is just entering the hot and humid period where airconditioning should be operational to prevent the expensive timber floors, doors, wardrobes, kitchens, plaster mouldings and false ceilings from being damaged by the humidity.
Transparency on this project is the same as most others in Dubai, non existent. If this project cannot be completed Emirates Sunland should advise their investors accordingly and be honest about completion.
