Letting agent considerations/recommendations?

Hello everyone,

I'm currently looking into making my first property investment in the UK, more specifically in Birmingham, and am investigating all the pieces that I will eventually need to puzzle together.

My next step is to find a letting agent and would like to learn people's past experiences with these.

- What can be done, in your opinion, in terms of due diligence when it comes to finding a fair and trustworthy letting agent?
- Can you share any of your good / bad experiences with letting agents?

The Internet is a godsend when it comes to customer reviews and this should give you an idea of the companies you are dealing with. Not that you can believe everything you see on the Internet but it certainly will give you some pointers.

While I would not believe everything that you read on the internet, it should give you a broad idea of who you are dealing with.

Some people say ask for clients to contact but is this legal with data protection etc?
