Italian Estate Agents

Hi folks,

my wife and I are intending to move to the Rome area of Italy within the next year. We have seen various properties we like on the internet but when we enquire of the estate agent for more info they are just not interested. I suspect because we are overseas buyers they don't see us as serious and therefore not to be worth bothering with.

Can anyone advise us if they know how to circumvent or bypass estate agents by finding the owners details eg like the UK property registry. Remax have been truly disinterested and the more 'local' agencies politely fob us off. Its not the language barrier - my wife is from Rome.

Any hints, tips, advice or experiences would be very welcome.
