Council house building targets increased in many parts of UK

Despite the fact that councils across the UK are struggling to meet demand for housing, the UK government has increased the target for many local councils. Is it really feasible when councils are struggling to find suitable land with many forced to break into greenfield areas.

What is the point of increasing targets if there is no money, let alone suitable land, to fulfil old targets. Housing in the UK has been a political football for many years with every government afraid to increase funding incase it reverses, or stalls, house price rises and alientates the voting public.

Government and local authorities keep passing the buck between each other like a game of musical chairs. Unless the issue of insufficient housing is addressed NOW there will be major problems going forward. Rent continues to creep up as a % of household income and this is not going to stop until the authorities start releasing sufficient funding!
