While there are rumours that many Spanish banks are looking to offload their property assets although the emergence of a so-called "black market" is a worrying development.

There always has been black market in Spain, it is a very common practice from dodgy estate agents.

I don´t think this is anything new. If you want to avoid this kind of thing. Make sure you use a lawyer when buying to make sure you are not buying one of the ´black market´ properties. also if you are wanting to rent out then be sure to be selective about who you rent to. be sure to buy in a good area where you are comfortable leaving your property empty if you wont be there all the time. Or find someone that you can leave a key with so they can go check on it every so often.
