He was once the darling of Celtic before moving on to Spartak Moscow and more recently Sunderland but he still keeps his Scottish roots. However, Aiden McGeady has now decided to sell his £1 million home in ThorntonHall, South Lanarkshire as he prepares to move to a larger property in the same area. So, what details do we know about the five bedroom detached home where the football star lived with his wife of four years?
Property spec
This property was specifically designed for Aiden McGeady and is described as having five bedrooms (four ensuite), cinema/office area, double garage, enormous entertaining space, four reception rooms, games room and private gardens. The accommodation area over three floors amounts to 4500 ft.² which is more than enough for a couple or small family.
Distinctive layout
As we touched on above, the property has three floors with the first floor accessible by a wooden stairway to the side of the property. If you look at the aerial view it does look as though originally it was two properties which have been joined together by a central section. These are all enclosed by high trees to give privacy.
The kitchen
The kitchen is probably one of the most stylish we have ever seen with a cream tiled floor, white walls and dark black storage facilities with a highly finished grey marble top with black flecks. Even taking into account the sit down breakfast bar there is an awful lot of space in this kitchen which is dominated by two large windows.
Living area
The living area has a light brown wooden floor, stylish grey sofa and while not an awful lot of additional furniture it does catch your eye. The centre of the room sees a spiral wooden staircase to the next level and again there is more than enough natural light giving an airy spacious feel. Towards the back end of the living room is a pool table and you will notice that like other rooms in the house the wall is adorned with an array of signed football shirts (we can see a Barcelona football top) mounted in glass frames.
Dining area
There is a formal dining area which at first glance seems to be “pushed into the corner” but is in fact a stylish round black table with matching chairs offering a beautiful view through a curved floor-to-ceiling corner window. While the overhead image which accompanies the sale particulars is eye-catching it does not do this room justice.
Bedrooms
Each bedroom is decorated in a slightly different colour scheme with the master suite opening out onto a wooden balcony with an abundance of natural light. Aiden McGeady has gone for a very soft and very subtle colour scheme which takes in an array of white, grey and silver. Soothing and relaxing, spacious and airy, with a modern ensuite bathroom, this room catches your eye in an understated manner.
Different yet stylish
When you also take into account the outside seating areas, the immaculate gardens and the views, we can only guess that the new property Aiden McGeady is moving to must be something special. A pricetag of £1 million hardly seems excessive but would this appeal to fans of archrivals Glasgow Rangers?
